It is a common scenario where the financial data doesn’t match with the financial reports generated using management reporter in Dynamics 365. The mismatched data can be due to any errors in communication between Dynamics and MR, restoring the dynamics databases.
Refreshing cached financial data can help resolve minor data synchronization issues. if that doesn’t help resolve the incorrect data, rebuilding data mart is the next available solution.
We know about the rebuilding data mart in previous versions of management reporter for Microsoft Dynamics. Rebuilding data mart required the IT administrators to delete and create the database again.
Dynamics 365 latest build provides another cool option to simply reset data mart that doesn’t require the IT administrators and instead you as an end user can easily do it through the report designer client itself.
In the new financial report designer for Dynamics 365, with the reset data mart, indexing is quite faster.
The data mart reset should be done only during times when the amount of processing on the database is small. Financial reporting will be unavailable during the reset process.Microsoft
How to reset the Data mart in Dynamics 365 Financial Reporter
Launch the Report designer application. Go to Tools | Reset Data Mart
The Integration attempts grid shows the information on the attempts to integrate transactions. Even if the first few attempts aren’t successful, the system continues to try to integrate data over a period of days.
If the number of attempts is 8 or more, the data mart must be reset.
This grid provides a snapshot of the transactions, exchange rates, and dimension values available in the data mart. The more the number of stale records, indicates that numerous updates to the records have occurred. Such a situation can result in slower report generation.
Misaligned Account categories
This field shows any misaligned account categories resulting due to the renaming of accounts and moving accounts between categories. This can cause the account categories to be misaligned. This field will show if you’re experiencing that issue.
Reset Data Mart
This is a drop down that asks for the purpose of resetting the data mart. Missing or incorrect data, Restore database and other.
Clear users and companies
This is usually not required to be checked unless you’ve restored the database and then went on making changes to users and companies.
Clear organization hierarchies
This is rarely used except in situations when the database is restored and then changes are made to hierarchies in Dynamics 365.
After identifying what options from above should be checked and taking the desired action, proceed with data mart reset by clicking OK.
The system will issue a pop-up message that the reset is recommended only during system downtime otherwise there can be an interruption to the users running the reports during work hours. If you’re ok with the process, click OK to go further.
The integration status shows the checklist that the system will go through the processing in the background. Hit refresh to check the status
Once completed successfully, the following status would be shown
